NVUSD to offer FREE Summer Camp for Elementary students
Posted 5/19/21

Camp NVUSD partners with Edmo, a nationally recognized summer camp program

This summer, over 2,000 NVUSD elementary students will have the unique opportunity to experience an in-person summer day camp experience - at no cost to families. Camp NVUSD will operate at nine elementary schools in Napa and American Canyon for current K-5 students,  partnering with Edmo, a recognized leader in educational experiences for over 20 years. Edmo camps focus on hands-on learning, engaging activities that keep kids active and excited to learn new skills, problem solve and have fun.

Camp NVUSD will also offer a more academically focused program in partnership with the Edmo half-day program for identified students needing intervention due to learning loss over the past year. Camp NVUSD, along with a robust summer program offered at the secondary level, has been made possible by leveraging CARES Act funding provided to the district as a part of the federal COVID relief package. The district is also leveraging existing partnerships with NCOE, Boys and Girls Clubs of Napa Valley, and On the Move for additional targeted programming.

“NVUSD recognizes the toll the past year has taken on our community — especially our students. Camp NVUSD is an amazing opportunity to return to some normalcy and experience a high-quality, day camp experience where they will interact with their peers and enjoy a range of projects from engineering to art and everything in between,” said Matt Manning, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and English Learner Services-Elementary.

In the past, NVUSD has not had the funding to offer a free summer program at this quality and scale. The CARES Act funding allows the district to build a strong bridge back to in-person learning for elementary students. The Camp NVUSD program is currently at capacity; for questions or to join the waiting list, please email summerprograms@nvusd.org.
