NVUSD Mentor Programs are designed to give students 16 years and older a look into what entry level jobs are like in Napa Valley’s key industries. We want students to see what is being offered in terms of not only a job but a potential career in the Valley. These programs are unique in that they are inclusive of all students including those with special needs and those at risk. The programs are designed with key industry partners which are experts in their specific industry to ensure students are getting a real taste of the career.

The NVUSD Internship Program is a structured program between 8-12 weeks in length, consisting of 60 hours of set, scheduled hours of on site career exploration and work learning. Students participate in the program to gain a real perspective of a potential career path prior to making post-secondary educational decisions.

Career Days at NVUSD are an important part of career exploration for students at the middle school level. Career days consist of 10-15 employers coming to a middle school to speak to a group of 20-30 students who have signed up to hear from that specific employer. After the employer hits on a few key topics from how they got into the career to what schooling was needed students have the opportunity to ask questions and then last they get the opportunity to participate in a hands on activity to keep the students engaged as well as help them learn more about the career while having fun!   We currently offer career days at 2 of our middle schools.

The Napa County Office of Education's College and Career Readiness Department (NCOE CCRD) provides Career and Technical Education (CTE) in multiple industry sectors to high school students across 15 career pathways in NVUSD, Calistoga Joint USD, and St. Helena USD.

These pathways are taught by credentialed teachers with industry experience, and many meet a UC ‘a-g’ requirement. Students have the opportunity to take courses that prepare them for college and career through hands-on instruction by bringing theory and practice together. Many students use the skills developed in CTE courses to obtain employment while furthering their education or pursuing their career goals.
