Preschool Information

NVUSD offers 3 hour morning or afternoon preschool sessions Monday through Friday. Children are expected to attend every day. Consult individual preschool listings for exact hours of operation.

Registration

Children and families are served without regard to their sex, sexual orientation, gender, ethnic group identification, race ancestry, national origin, religion, color, or mental or physical disability. Your child must be between 3 and 5 years old to be eligible for preschool.  Children who will start kindergarten the following year are given priority.

When you come to register please bring:

  • Birth or baptism certificate, or passport
  • Immunization records – 3 Polio, 4 DTP, 1MMR and 1 HIB (on or after 1st birthday), 3 Hep B, and 1 Varicella (chickenpox). There is now a 4 day grace period that affects immunizations due on or after the first birthday.  Children who received these shots up to four days before their birthdays now meet the requirement and do not need another dose.

If your child’s record is missing some doses, please contact your doctor or clinic now to obtain the full immunizations record or any doses needed. If your child recently received immunizations and needs an immunization later in the year, he/she can be allowed to attend, provided you get the remaining doses when they become due. If immunizations are against your personal beliefs, you will need to sign the exemption statement on the day you enroll. If any immunizations were not given to your child because of medical reasons, please bring us a letter signed by your doctor.

  • A current utility bill with proof of address
  • Proof of one month’s income if you have low income and want to apply for free preschool services. Proof of income includes: Verification of each spouse’s income, for single parents, any child support payments must be included in income calculation.  Please bring check stubs for the entire month prior to enrollment.  For example, if your child is enrolled in August, we need all check stubs for the month of July.  If paid weekly, bring one pay stub for each week. If paid monthly, bring one check stub for the month. Alternatively, your income tax return from last year can be used for income verification.
