Communications to Parents

NVUSD places great importance on communication as we work together, with our parent community, to continually improve our schools and ensure student success.

We know that everyone prefers certain types of communication, and we have developed several to accommodate all families in our district: phone calls, emails, text messages and postal mail.

However, we cannot provide parents with communication if we do not have the needed contact information on file at our schools. It is very important for all parents to provide ALL of these on the student emergency form at the beginning of each school year: mailing address, phone numbers, email address and preferred texting number.

Parents then have the ability to opt out of communication types they don't want that school year, and receive only the preferred mode of communication. For example, if a parent prefers to receive emails rather than phone calls, the parent can opt out at the first phone call received, and then will not receive another phone call that school year (this applies to outreach messages only; emergency and attendance message phone calls cannot be opted out).

The opt-outs are all canceled at the beginning of each school year, as information is updated, and parents can again select which communication methods to opt out of.

CONTACT INFO Provide your contact information to your school at the beginning of each school year (fill out the Student Emergency Information Form in the student information packet).
CHOOSE When you receive notifications, you can choose how you want to be contacted. You can opt out of the communication method you do not want. Note: opting out of a communication method will be applied to both district and school messages.

All parents are automatically opted back into all methods of communication at the start of each school year. You can also opt back in during the school year as follows:

  • To opt back into phone calls --  call (855) 502-7867
  • To opt back into emails -- contact the Communications office at (707) 259-7525 or email kcliff@nvusd.org with your name, your child's name, child's school and your email address
  • To opt back into text messages -- send a text message to 23177 or 63079 that says "subscribe nvutext"

Note: opting back into a communication method will be applied to both district and school messages.

CHANGES IMPORTANT: Please notify your school office immediately if your contact information changes during the school year.
