Developer Fees


Please NOTE that as of April 20th, Steve Reinero will be leaving NVUSD.  

Steve had been a part of our District since his first project in 2004, Canyon Oaks Elementary.  He has helped in building our community and district over the past 14 years.  Some of the highlights from his time here at NVUSD are project management of: Canyon Oaks Elementary School, several Multi-Use Rooms, Vintage High School Aquatics Center, American Canyon High School, Technology Center, 2014 Earthquake/FEMA (inspection, reporting and repairs of all facilities district wide), as well as being a key member in the initial planning and design of Measure H projects.  

Steve has received a great opportunity, very close to his home and will be missed by all of the NVUSD community.  Please thank him for his services and wish him well in his future endeavors.

Developer fees are charged to developers to cover public costs associated with private development. These fees are charged by cities, counties and special districts. By law, the school district must keep developer fees in a separate account and use them ONLY to address the impact of a growing student population. At NVUSD, most of the funds are spent adding relocatable classrooms to campuses to increase space.

Each year we report how much we collected, how much we spent and what we spent it on.

Sometimes the standard fees are not enough to cover the costs associated with a development. This happens most often when a district must build an entirely new school to accommodate the additional students. Recent examples in Napa and American Canyon include the Canyon Oaks, Napa Pipe and Watson Ranch developments, where developers agreed (or are close to agreement) to pay more, provide land for schools and/or other offsets.
