Open Enrollment/School Choice - Elementary

The district has adopted an open enrollment policy that provides the opportunity for parents/guardians to apply to attend an elementary “school of choice” other than their school of residence during an annual open enrollment period.

The open enrollment period will be February 1 through February 24, 2012.  Applications must be received no later than Friday, February 24, 2012,  at 3:30 p.m. to be included in the random selection process for the 2012-2013 school year.  Open enrollment applications are available at your elementary school and must be submitted to your neighborhood elementary school.   Families applying to attend Napa Valley Language Academy apply directly through the NVLA office.  Please contact NVLA at 253-3678 if you have any questions about applying to this school.  Open Enrollment for Stone Bridge School begins January 17 and ends February 17.  Please call the Stone Bridge School office at 252-5522 for information.

If approved, an open enrolled student becomes a student of the “school of choice” through the 5thgrade.  Once approved, the student does not have automatic rights to return to his/her original school of residence.  If the student desires to return to the original school of residence, the parent/guardian must reapply through the annual open enrollment process.  Parents/guardians provide transportation to and from their assigned “school of choice”.

To learn more about school choice options, please join us at our School Fair on Wednesday January 18thfrom 6-7:30 pm at the NVUSD Education Center at 2425 Jefferson Street.

If you would like more information about enrollment, parents are encouraged to contact their neighborhood school or visit the district website at www.nvusd.k12.ca.usSee “Enroll Your Child” and the “School Finder” button.
