ACHS Drama Department awarded $20K in grants Posted 3/5/18

ACHS RISE grant big check group photo

To help promote the new TV series, “Rise,” NBC sponsored a national grant competition to support high school theatre programs. Over 1,500 schools from across the country applied for one of fifty $10,000 grants.

 2nd check award

Summer Heartt teaches Theatre at American Canyon High School (ACHS) and she wrote the winning application for ACHS. The $10,000 award included a visit to ACHS by the show’s young star, Damon Gillespie, and a trip to the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco where fifty ACHS students previewed the show’s first episode - and where the Theatre Company surprised us with another $10,000! Summer Heartt is a member of the NVUSD Arts Leadership Team.
